Overview

BMW ISTA SQLiteDBs diagnostic and language databases

SQLiteDBs supplies the diagnostic wording, procedure content and supporting database information used by ISTA (Rheingold). It provides fault-code explanations, guided test plans, measures, wiring-related notes, repair documentation and service-dialog text. This is a database collection for an existing ISTA installation on Windows.

The collection retains the version label 4.55.12. Its original description covers the ISTA 4.55.x branch; the expanded archive also contains separate, older and newer language packages. Each package retains its own database version.

Original 4.55.12 language set

The original set lists Global base/object data plus en-GB, en-US, de-DE, ru-RU, cs-CZ, nl-NL and ko-KR: British English, US English, German, Russian, Czech, Dutch and Korean. Install only the required language packs to reduce storage use.

Expanded multi-language archive

The documented expansion lists 20 packages across 16 language codes, spanning database versions 4.22.12–4.57.20. These entries are separate from the original 4.55.12 language list; the expansion does not make every language a 4.55.12 package.

CN and ZH are retained as distinct archive codes. No regional or script distinction is specified for those two entries. Choose the package version required by your installed ISTA application rather than combining files solely because their language names match.

Main features and diagnostic content

  • Localized DTC explanations and operating text.
  • Guided fault-finding plans, ABL procedures and service functions.
  • Repair guidance, wiring notes, measures and service dialogs.
  • Diagnostic terminology aligned with the application data and the vehicle integration level (I-Level), when the correct versions are paired.
  • Language selection inside ISTA to keep diagnostic and workshop instructions consistent.

Installation and first start

  1. For the original 4.55.12 set, prepare the corresponding ISTA 4.55.x application on Windows. For an expanded archive entry, first confirm the exact application/database pairing required for that entry.
  2. Place the chosen database folders in the ISTA installation's SQLiteDBs directory, preserving their folder structure. Administrator permissions may be needed to copy files.
  3. Start ISTA and choose the installed language in its settings.
  4. Check the displayed data versions before diagnostic work. A version mismatch requires the correct matching package, rather than an arbitrary mix of language databases.

Compatibility notes

The original 4.55.12 description identifies BMW F-, G- and I-series use with the corresponding application build. Actual vehicle coverage depends on the ISTA application, diagnostic content and vehicle integration level; this is not a guarantee for every model or control unit.

The documented test environment is Windows 10 LTSC 2019. Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 and 11 are also listed, subject to the requirements of the particular ISTA build. This database package does not establish Windows compatibility for every ISTA release.

SQLiteDBs and PSdZData serve different purposes. SQLiteDBs provides diagnostic language and procedure content. PSdZData supplies ECU programming and coding data used by E-Sys/ISTA. This archive does not replace PSdZData or provide the complete ISTA application.

Storage and requirements

  • Dual-core processor at 2.0 GHz or higher.
  • At least 8 GB RAM.
  • Approximately 10–25 GB free storage for the documented setup, depending on selected languages.
  • Display resolution of at least 1366 × 768.
  • Permission to copy files into the ISTA installation.

Installing several languages increases disk usage. The 10–25 GB figure is a setup estimate, not a verified download size for the full expanded archive. Exact archive size, checksums and individual database release dates are not established.
