VERSION 1.15.4.0Vector HexView - Automotive HEX and S-Record File Utility 1.15.4.0
Windows HEX, S-record and binary file viewer, converter and editor with CANoe trace, ID-based EEP and EepM helper commands.

Overview
Vector HexView is a Windows viewer, converter and editor for hexadecimal automotive files. It supports offline inspection of firmware containers and prepared memory images before they enter an engineering or programming workflow. The documented package contains the application, required Vector libraries, a configuration file, disclaimer and PDF reference manual. HexView does not flash an ECU or communicate with a vehicle on its own.

Core File Operations
Open a firmware or memory image, inspect its addresses and byte ranges, check expected boundaries and convert between supported binary and record-based representations. Prepared output can then be used with another compatible Vector or programming tool.
Conversion settings can change addressing, empty gaps, padding and checksums. Preserve the source and match the output format to the receiving tool's documentation. A file that looks correct in the editor is not necessarily suitable for programming.
Automotive Helper Functions
- Scan a CANoe trace logfile.
- Build an identifier-based EEP download file; the pictured command is “Build ID based EEP download file”.
- Scan an EepM data section; this command is disabled in the pictured empty workspace.
- Use the included export-data processing and information-window components.
These functions relate to Vector measurement and flash-data preparation. They do not establish support for every CANoe, CANape, FRP, ECU or sensor format. Check the exact input layout and intended downstream environment before conversion.
Supported Data Context
The utility is intended for engineering and calibration work with hexadecimal, binary and record-oriented firmware data, including Intel-style HEX and Motorola S-record files. Select the import and export options using the supplied reference manual. Check the start address, address width, segment layout, fill bytes, record length and end-of-file records.
For an ECU file, establish whether it contains full flash, calibration, EEPROM or an extracted container. HexView does not provide ECU definitions or map names and cannot identify a vehicle merely from an arbitrary binary.
Package Contents
- Main HexView application for Windows.
- Vector libraries for export-data processing, disclaimer, licensing and information-window functions.
- Configuration file for the export-data component.
- PDF reference manual.
Package documentation describes the executable and application libraries as unsigned, with embedded metadata identifying Vector Informatik components. Its preparation notes state that the files were not executed. This is not an independent execution or safety certification by ECUDB. Keep the complete functional folder structure rather than separating the executable from required DLLs.
System Requirements
This is a legacy native Windows application. Some bundled library descriptions refer to older Windows generations; exact supported operating-system versions and minimum hardware requirements are not established. Check modern Windows compatibility in an isolated VM or workshop computer. Keep the supplied DLLs alongside the executable and use a PDF reader for the manual.
Offline file work does not require a vehicle interface. CANoe or another Vector environment may be needed for a trace-related or downstream project workflow; these environments are not included in the documented archive.
Safe Conversion Workflow
- Archive the original input and record its hash.
- Record its actual format, populated address range and byte count, together with the required output format.
- Open a copy and inspect the first and last populated addresses.
- Select conversion options explicitly instead of trusting remembered defaults.
- Save a separate output file and reopen it.
- Independently compare payload bytes, covered addresses, record checksums and filled gaps.
- Pass the checked output to the intended engineering or programming workflow only after those checks succeed.
Troubleshooting
An unexpectedly large output can result from filled address gaps. An unexpectedly small output can indicate missing high-address segments. For parser errors, check line endings, record checksums, supported address widths and whether the filename extension matches the actual data.
When requesting support, supply the input and output formats, first and last addresses, exact byte counts, selected operation and a short redacted sample of non-proprietary records. Do not share complete commercial firmware images.
Limitations
HexView is a file-data utility, not a universal ECU checksum solution or a replacement for controller-specific documentation. It cannot establish that a calibration is safe, compatible or authorized. Independently validate every converted file before using it.

System Requirements
- Windows workshop computer or isolated VM; exact supported versions and minimum hardware are unspecified.
- Keep the required application DLLs beside the executable and retain the supplied configuration and folder structure.
- PDF reader for the included reference manual.
- No vehicle interface is required for offline file operations.
- CANoe or another appropriate Vector environment may be needed for trace or downstream project workflows; it is not included.
